Nigerian Secret Police State Security Service received information about October 1 Eagle Square bombings as early as 18th September 2010. SSS Operative Abdul Abubakar who is an Assistant Deputy Director of SSS in charge of internal security told a South African court
“On 18 September 2010 critical information came to the state service concerning some individuals planning to cause mayhem on the day Nigeria will be celebrating its 50th independence anniversary, which was 1 October 2010....
it was indicated that the Federal Government will be embarrassed on 1 October through the use of car bomb explosions to disrupt the occasion.” Abdul Abubakar Assistant Deputy Director of SSS
